BREAKING NEWS: HOLY SHIT! SNOW ACCUMULATES IN...
mittenstategirl: thewayoftheworld: maconsiglio: (Jan 29th, 2009 Detroit, Michigan) Yesterday, snow fell on the ground in Michigan in the middle of winter. There was snow in Oak Park, Southfield, Detroit’s east side, Westland, Taylor, and Clarkston. People bitched as they shoveled, salt trucks hit the road, and assholes crashed their cars for fun. Meanwhile, more important newsworthy things...

Trying to decide which movie to see tonight/tomorrow, Milk or The Wrestler. Anyone out there recommend one of these?  Are either of them need-to-see-on-the-big-screen films?

Title IX and the BCS
Rick Reilly, ESPN writer, on the latest BCS issues: Ask him what he’ll do if Obama asks the Department of Education to consider withholding federal funds from these schools that have entered into his secret club [The BCS schools]. You don’t think playing in the title game means millions in general-fund donations for a school? That’s as unfair as anything Title IX fought...

Horrible Job... part 1
After having to brush snow off my car almost every day this week, sometimes two or three times a day, I realized being the low man on the totem pole at a car dealership would be absolutely terrible.  If I can’t stand clearing off one car—usually only enough to drive and let the snow blow off and some of the ice melt—I imagine doing it 300 times a couple times a week would be...

Boy Don't Try to Front...
For some reason, the freshman girls basketball team I coach decided the song Womanizer was about me and sang the song to me everytime it came on the iPod during our bus ride.  Apparently being the unmarried coach means I’m a womanizer. And yes, being 25 and called a womanizer by half a dozen 14 year old girls is as awkward and embarrassing as it sounds.

anecdotes of my life, a new years resolution
Abbey: Amy.
Amy: Yes, ma'am?
Abbey: CJ and I are gonna get drunk. Come on.
Amy: Yes, ma'am.
Josh: You're going?
Amy: The First Lady just asked me to get boozy with her. You don't think I want to write a book one day?

* Adding one more new year's resolution to the list--make more decisions that lead to great stories, even if it costs me sleep or sanity.

New Year's Resolutions
* Stop standing at the fork in the road. I graduated with a teaching certificate but chose to take a year off before heading into teaching.  After talking with some of my teacher friends, I put in a little effort towards a teaching position in Chicago then gave up on teaching.  Now I’m hanging on at Michigan with no real future here.  Either I need to do the education thing (or at least...
